I’m a 48 year old solid ferro cement ketch names "Samara". I've travelled a lot over the years and been to a couple of countries. On the verge of retirement I met the man who made a new woman out of me - Jordy. We met in the Gold Coast in Australia on april fools day 2020, but it was no joke. We spent 10 weeks in the slip yard “Boat Works” with a lot of tender love and elbow grease. Today we have travelled 5000+ nautical miles.
About the Owner
Jordy is 31 years old, and some of his favourite hobbies apart from me include, nature, hiking, snorkeling, building and a beer enthusiast. He grew up in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He tells me his favourite movies are the pirates of the carribian. In 2019 Jordy was exposed to his first ever sailing experience. A weekend in ‘het spui’ which is a river in the Netherlands. He was sea sick and didn’t really enjoy it all that much.. Although, he said the freedom it brought was like none other.
Fast forward to today and he hardly gets seasick and is a natural Captain and im glad to call him mine. After Jordy sailed with his friend Daniel to Port Douglas from the Gold Coast, Daniel had to go home. Feeling overwhelmed Jordy got stuck in Port Douglas. Thankfully while working to support myself and him he met someone very important - The newest crew member. And then there's Loryn. She and I are similar in a lot of ways. Apart from our age - she’s only 26. We’re both stubborn so it took a little while for us to get acquainted. But after a couple of months and tweaking my water pressure system we became very close. It’s nice having another female around. Loryn grew up in Country Victoria, Australia. She is also well travelled. She enjoys, cooking, sleeping,
chilling, drinking, eating out, sailing, watching Always sunny in Philadelphia but most of all she loves to help and learn. Like Jordy they both didn't have much sailing experience but it’s okay. I’ve taught them along the way.

Who is the ideal buyer/s for the boat (the target buyer)?
As Samara is a large boat she is very versatile. She is blue water ready so those wanting to live aboard and travel the world via boat would be interested. She would suit a couple or family as there are two cabins but in total 9 sleeping spaces. Samara is completely off grid so if you would like to use her as a home in the river that is also possible and has been done in Port Douglas.
What do you think are the top 3 reasons why someone would love to buy this boat?
Samara has so much space, especially deck space which is rare for a mono hull. Plenty of room for yoga, parties or to sleep in the hammocks under the stars at anchor. She is completely off grid, perfect for sustainable living. Blue water ready, the freedom Samara gives to go anywhere in the world is unlike any other. An apartment on water and handles well at sea thanks to her size.
How do you want the life of the next owner to change after buying the boat?
Owning any boat teaches you a lot of resilience and broadens your skill set on navigation, lifestyle and to enjoy the small stuff. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or just starting out, Samara is forgiving and provides comfort and adventure simultaneously. What problem does having the boat solve/What need or desire does the boat fulfill? Samara offers freedom with the advantage of comfort. Personally, knowing that she's ready to go has fulfilled my desire of adventure. Also, every evening I sit on deck and watch the sunset which never gets old.
